![]() ![]() ![]() The lore about how Quadara got four queens, stories about why the quadrants are the way they are, the in depth narration of how the nation looks like and how the people act on different places, I fell in love with this world. Despite it being a stand-alone, the amount of worldbuilding is so lush and extended. There are twists and turns and everything is absolutely not as it seems starting on page one.īesides this book being a murder mystery, it is also a fantasy. The book kept putting me on the wrong leg, pushed me in the wrong directions and I kept saying ”Wait, what?”. ![]() But I just couldn’t crack the murders of the four queens. I love watching police/detective series because I like figuring out who did it, how and why, and, without bragging, I thought I was getting pretty good at it. What I enjoyed most about this book is the murder mystery part. I stayed up late, had many reading sprints and just picked this up every moment I was able to as I kept being curious about what the next page would bring. I devoured this book in a few days as I just couldn’t put it down. “Sometimes failure is the beginning of success.” ★★★★★ ![]() ![]() ![]() Like many other authors, Howard incorporates some of her own life experiences into her works of children's fiction.
